| According to CNN, Adobe Systems Inc. (known for programs such as Acrobat Reader, Photoshop, Illustrator, and more) announced today that it has agreed to purchase Macromedia Inc. (the producer of website development software, Dreamweaver) in a $3.4 billion stock deal. The deal is not set to close till Q3 2005, but the current terms of the deal will allow Macromedia shareholders to get 0.69 shares of Adobe for each share of Macromedia in a stock swap. This stock swap offers Macromedia shareholders an enormous 25% premium. Consumers could be looking forward to an increase in cross compatibility between Macromedia's Dreamweaver and Adobe's line of productivity software. |
